Hyperbaric oxygenation stimulates and accelerates the healing of the skin through the improvement of tissue oxygenation and numerous indirect mechanisms, such as swelling reduction. HBOT accelerates cell reproduction in the skin and improves the growth of the skin’s structural elements. Further improvements include leucocyte activity and resistance to skin infections, neoangiogenesis and the formation of new blood vessels, as well as the acceleration of the epithelialization process and the formation of the skin barrier.
