The main tool for diagnosis and treatment in manual medicine are the therapist’s hands. Rubbing a painful or swelled spot on the body is instinctive not only to humans, but even to animals, which is why treatment in manual medicine starts as soon as the therapist’s hand is placed on the patient’s body. All knowledge develops with time, and such is the case with manual medicine, today deemed as an acknowledged medical discipline.
